The Drive Inside

Client: Nike Basketball in collaboration with R/GA

Upon the release of the Lebron 6 (2008), Handselecta was asked to work with the team at R/GA and Nike to take Lebron’s handstyle from the interior of his sixth Nike sneaker and create an operational font. The lining of this sneaker was filled with a repeatable pattern of Lebron’s personal inspiration – the things that drove his passion for the game and all his hard work to achieve success.

We deconstructed that handwritten artwork and made it more regulated in order to transform it into a digital font that would be usable in any number of letter combinations for fans. It was then used for an interactive page on Nike Basketball’s homepage, where you could create and download your own inspirational backdrops.

This font is now the exclusive property of Nike and is not available for retail sale or use.
